Welcome to the Big Swan Lake Common Interest Community Website!

11/06/25 – 8:37 am – News and Leaf Update

With sadness, we share the loss of one of our campground members, Trish Finnegan, who passed away on November 3rd after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Trish’s memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15th at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria (659 Voyager Dr). Visitation will be from 12-2 pm with the service to follow. More information is available on the Big Swan Lake Campground Association Facebook page. Rest in peace, Trish.

Kenny shared that leaf pickup is done for the fall season. He said he was able to pick up most of the leaves close enough to dwellings so that owners shouldn’t have to do any raking of their lots until the spring.

09/30/25 1:52 pm – Overall Update

The water will be shut off beginning at 8:00 am on Sunday, October 5th by Bitz Plumbing.

For those on the south end of the campground with internet service through Xtratyme, the power will be shut off on Sunday, October 5th. If you need continued service or have questions or issues with this, please contact Brent.

Thanks to all those in attendance at the fall association meeting. There wasn’t much to discuss, but the agenda and minutes will be posted as soon as they’re available. Also, big thanks to all who helped with docks and lifts.

Leaf cleanup will take place later in October. Please check back here regularly or on the Big Swan Facebook page for a timeframe of when owners need to push their leaves to common ground.

It surely was another great and memorable summer on Big Swan! See you in 2026!

08/05/24 8:37 am – A Storm for the Ages

This past Saturday evening, straight line winds blew through the campground, leaving dozens of trees down and even more branches and leaves everywhere. The community held strong, though, and worked together Sunday morning to clean everything up and restore the grounds back to a new normal state. A big thank you to all who helped!

Check out the pictures under the Pictures tab to see more of the story as we’ll be talking about this one for a LONG time. Thankfully, nobody was injured, but one vehicle was damaged, one camper lost its awning, and one sidewalk was uprooted. There was also some hail damage to a few vehicles, but given the size and strength of the storm, things could have been much worse.

07/03/24 10:13 am – 4th of July

On Saturday, July 6th, there will be a golf cart parade. Decorate your golf cart to celebrate July 4th and meet near the club house at 2:00 pm. Then we will cruise around the campground.

Also, just a reminder that this weekend is one of the busier weekends at the campground. Be mindful of parking, guests, noise and all other common-sense rules.

05/23/24 8:04 am – Spring Meeting Minutes

Minutes from the bi-annual spring meeting on May 4th have been posted under the Meetings tab at the top of this page. Enjoy!

05/22/24 1:33 pm – Memorial Day Reminders

Just a quick reminder to everyone that this coming weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the season at the campground. Please follow the by-laws as it pertains to guests, parking and the use of the Community Room and its facilities. Summer is almost here!

05/14/24 10:53 am – Kayak FOUND!

The kayak has been found and safely returned as of Monday. A big THANK YOU to the pontoon that dropped it off at the campground on one of the docks.

05/13/24 11:32 am – Missing Orange Kayak

If anyone finds a 10 foot orange tandem kayak with no seats in it and two oars (black poles with white paddles), please contact Brent at 320-282-5166. The wind blew the stand holding it over last week, so the kayak ended up somewhere in the lake.

04/26/24 8:55 pm – Water is ON!

The campground water has been turned on and the summer is officially underway! Docks and lifts will be going in soon and the fishing opener is just a few weeks away. Hope to see as many people as possible at the meeting on the 4th.

04/22/24 2:25 pm – Spring Meeting

The bi-annual meeting is set for Saturday, May 4th at 10:30 am in the Community Room. The agenda is posted under the Agenda link at the top of this page.

Also, if the weather holds out this week and stays warm enough, there’s a good chance the water will be turned on the weekend of April 26-27. Stay tuned for more updates.

10/11/23 10:15 am – Leaf Cleanup

K&S will be picking up leaves on Monday, October 16th. Please have your leaves removed from your lots and on common ground before then.

10/6/23 11:42 am – Goodbye Summer

Bitz Plumbing blew all of the water lines out and the water was shut off for the season last Sunday, October 1st . Say it ain’t so, but summer at the lake for 2023 is officially over.

9/18/23 11:24 am – End of the Season

The minutes from the September 2nd association meeting are now posted under the Meetings tab at the top of the page. More pictures from the 2023 season have been added under the Pictures tab as well.

A group of people will be working together to remove docks and lifts on Saturday, September 30th. If you’re willing and able to help, please do so…and you’ll even get your own dock and lift pulled out as well!

Bitz Plumbing will be at the campground on Sunday, October 1st for end of the season water shutoff. Please be sure to turn off your water by that day and winterize your property. Any and all help around the campground for this project is appreciated.

9/7/23 11:13 am – Update

Also, check back for updates regarding water shutoff and fall leaf cleanup dates. Where did the summer go?!?!?

8/29/23 8:17 am – Fall Meeting

5/9/23 8:32 am – Leaf Service Update

Leaf service will be at the campground either Monday, May 15th or Tuesday, May 16th to pick up leaves off of common ground. Please have your private property blow out of leaves by then. Thank you!

5/6/23 1:45 pm – Website Information

As mentioned at the spring meeting, this website was created over the winter to eliminate the need for sending letters via US mail and also to share campground information for those not on Facebook. Examples include meeting minutes and agendas that will be posted under the Meetings tab at the top of this page rather than receiving them in the mail. If you’d prefer to use this website instead of receiving hard copies in the mail, please notify Brent Schloe (bschloe@csbsju.edu) to remove you from the mailing list.
